Treatment for Headaches Caused by TMD
Headaches caused by tension from TMD or occlusion or bite problems may be helped with one or more of the following treatments.
- TENS or a gentle transcutaneous electrical stimulation to relax the facial and neck muscles.
- An orthodic or dental appliance similar to a lower retainer or mouth guard to help maintain proper occlusion.
- Orthodontics to move the teeth into proper occlusion.
- Oral surgery is sometimes necessary.
- Dental restoration of teeth to put occlusion into proper alignment.
